First Time at the Forge: What I Learned

There’s nothing quite like seeing steel glow for the first time.

Standing in front of the forge, watching the metal turn from dull grey to bright orange—it hits you that this is something completely different.

My first session wasn’t perfect. Far from it.

  • My hammer control was all over the place

  • I underestimated how quickly heat disappears

  • I didn’t hit where I meant to half the time

But that’s part of it.

What I did learn:

  • Heat control is everything

  • Accuracy matters more than strength

  • Patience beats rushing every time

It’s addictive already. There’s something satisfying about shaping metal with your own hands.

This is just the beginning.

Strike. Learn. Repeat. 🔥
